But like someone else on here said - just get some shielding tips from Radio Shack or Monoprice, and you're good as gold.I got these for a steal at sixty five dollars with free shipping from Electronics Expo via Amazon. Let me compare the two. My fiance has the Logitech Z-2300 2.1 speakers, and I have these. I also considered the Logitech Z-4s for a long time, but they get mixed reviews and also seem to be lacking in the midrange. By the way, it's worth mentioning that I don't have the interference problem that others on here are speaking about. And if you don't like the color you get (I was hesitant about the mist), for five dollars you can get different colored speaker covers from the BA website :)I highly recommend these speakers, and I would pick these over the Logitechs any day (unless all I wanted were loud, thumping speakers for parties).
The Logitechs are lacking badly in the midrange, and after listening at loud volumes for a while, I suffer from listening fatigue. The MM226 are much more balanced (especially in the mids) and sound much cleaner. The sub is about twice as big as the MM226. They are smaller and quieter, but suit me perfectly in my one bedroom apartment. I LOVE that they have an Aux input on the control - I just plug in my MP3 player and go about my business. I'm just going to add to the already stellar reviews here. They are so balanced, even at low volumes (which is a problem for the Logitechs). Perfect in every way.
I suspect they may have static when using cordless telephones, it seems. I only have a cell phone so have no way of knowing if I'd have the same problem. It's smaller than I thought and sits perfectly under my computer desk. The Logitechs are definitely much louder, and have much more bass. For some reason the price on these is going all over the place.
I find it hard to believe that any speaker system doesn't have this feature nowadays - who doesn't want to hook up their mp3 player to their speakers. The MM226 sub doesn't look nearly as bad as it does in the picture (I have the mist colored model). It took maybe a month to fully break these speakers in, but once I did, they ROCKED. Check camelcamelcamel dot com to see what the price is doing, and they'll alert you when the price hits whatever price point you'd like. These speakers are worth twice the price I paid, however. Until Logitech starts updating and improving their speaker line, even though I'm a huge Logitech fan, I'd pick these BAs over those.
I am extremely satisfied with my purchase I made about 3 months ago. These replaced my 2.1 speaker set that came with my Dell that I should have replaced years ago. All ranges of sound are excellent. I would buy these again.
These speakers have been running close to a month now and they sound better than they did right out of the box which was already great sounding. Don't know if there is a cross over issue here. Picks up interference from DECT cordless phones, GSM cell phones etc when they are placed within 2 or 3 feet of speakers or remote.
Music at lower levels sound great too with the bass remaining nicely balanced. Did not detect any humming in the Sub when source is off. The satellites and the sub work seamlessly together providing clear highs and well behaved bass(adjustable).
Does not seem to be bothered by Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Great for a wide range of music and games.Pros: Produces tonally balanced sound with good detail (loud or soft), features replaceable grills on the satellites, remote volume control(with on/off switch, aux and headphone jacks) and has ample power for a room or small den. Cons: Got to keep it away sources of interference.
Exposes the inadequacies of the source (my laptop) or poorly recorded MP3 files(piano passages in particular) which tends to produce accentuated clipping of the high mids which I barely notice on headphones. Need to find a better source to test this out properly. No auto power down/standby (sub under table serves as a good foot warmer) so you'll need to remember to turn off the sound system via the remote even if the computer hibernates automatically.Overall 4 stars because of the interference issues and lack of auto power off.
The Boston Accoustic MM226 was a real bargain at the sale price. I am happy with the sound quality, the ease of set-up, and the high quality user interface (volume control). I was worried about the lighter color of the speakers but they seem to blend into the background with my brown furniture just fine.
Maybe b/c of the smaller drivers. As in any speaker they take time to break in. Even so, they work well. 40 hours is usually what most recommend. These seemed to take longer. The sound is excellent for the price I paid. It took some tweaking but I am very happy with them.
